I recently listened to a long audio book by Michael Hayden, who was head of the Central Intelligence Agency for about three years, starting in May of 2006. The book made me realize what a terribly difficult job it is. In the past, I’ve prayed for Presidents, Congress and governors, but I had never once prayed for the leaders of our intelligence agencies.
I carry two weapons, both hidden, at all times. No, not a gun or a knife. However, I believe every church should have security people who are “packing heat” so that if a terrorist should show up a tragedy could be avoided. I am going through too many airports to be one of those special, responsible people who actually carry a concealed pistol and thus help protect churches and society in general. It’s a good ministry—for some.
When the Ark of the Covenant was captured by the Philistines, the daughter-in-law of High Priest Eli went into labor and died in childbirth. Before she expired she named her baby Ichabod, which means “Where is the glory?” (See 1 Samuel 4:19-22 NLT)
Every day we live we owe to the grace of God. At any time God could allow some nation who has nuclear weapons and rockets capable of launching them to send and explode a hydrogen bomb in space over our nation. This would instantly fry everything electric. It is estimated that 90% of us would die in a year if this happened—and that is without the invasion of foreign troops!
